Pottery Barn Inspired Easter Art and a Spring Vignette

One of the things I always look forward to during the dark days of winter is the arrival of the Pottery Barn spring catalog. It's like a herald of the warmer days to come. The sunny rooms and gorgeous vignettes always inspire me. I especially love their Easter decor, but the prices are usually too steep for my budget.  One of the things that caught my eye this year was this bunny banner. It's already sold out online, so obviously I wasn't the only person who liked it!

But I knew I could make something similar fairly easily. When I disassembled my Valentine vignette I realized I already had the perfect starting point. This frame, with its burlap backing, has been a decorating workhorse, appearing regularly on my walls and mantels. With a quick google search, I found a bunny silhouette and enlarged it to the necessary size (here's the link to the one I used).

From there, it was as simple as trimming my silhouette and taping it in place. As you can see, I need to change the black ink cartridge in my printer!

I used a small paintbrush and white craft paint to trace the outline, then filled it in with a larger round brush.

The finished product isn't perfect; I wish I had pulled the burlap tighter to avoid the creases. But otherwise it is quite cute, didn't cost me a thing, and took all of 30 minutes to make.

It is the perfect complement to the little spring vignette I arranged on our kitchen's open shelving.

I've had the little bunny figurines forever and always look forward to taking them out in the spring. They are quite mobile little critters, though, and have already been moved to a new home.
{Don't worry, I'll show you where soon!}
It's snowing out today, and spring is still a long way off. But this little burst of springtime sweetness brightens the late winter days.

  30. This is just too much of a coincidence, Jessie! I found your project over at Ironstone nest and had to pop in (I'm following now, too). I saw this bunny thingie in the Pottery Barn catalog, too, and even ripped the page out. I have everything I need to make it and then you know, life got in the way. Yours turned out just too cute! Now I'm really motivated to start working on it. And then I noticed your letter "R"...did you make that, too? I just did a letter with moss that looks about the same size. And finally, when you said you had snow today (and we did, too), I thought, please don't tell me she's from Illinois!! That would be too weird!

    Happy Tuesday! :)

    XO,
    Jane

    1. Too funny, Jane! What a happy coincidence! :)

      I did make the 'R' but it was pre-blogging so I don't have a tutorial for it. It was pretty easy, like the burlap bunny. I am not an ambitious DIY-er, so anything I've done has to be basic, lol!

      I'm in Minnesota, not Illinois, but the Midwest still counts as a coincidence, right?!
